One or more members of the group will upload a copy to the Wikispace by the beginning of class. Your background wikipage needs to be uploaded under your group wikipage and named as such: GROUPNAME-background [Example: Muggles-background]. If you want a different background aspect per wikipage (not required, but recommended), follow the same naming formulae and add 1, 2, 3, or the like. [Example:Muggles--bkgrd1,Muggles--bkgrd2,Muggles--bkgrd3 etc].
If you can't remember how to create or edit a wikipage, go HERE.
Expect to do revisions and edits for the final.
Purpose:
Remember that the purpose of the VFT background is to prepare the person taking the tour so they have context for what they will experience on the VFT itself. To help you find the correct background information, keep this in mind: what you want people to learn from taking your VFT? Landforms? Yes. Geology? Yes. Soils? Yes. Landscape features? Yes. Climate and vegetation? Sure, if you want. Think about the general stops you [will] have chosen, and what they [will] show. In other words, how does each stop differ and what makes each stop unique in terms of physical geography?
The VFT background will require some research and you will be turning in the following:
1. A general overview of the area – where? what? how large? etc. (1 paragraph)
2. A brief intro to the geology, rocks, and/or soils of the area (1-2 paragraphs)
3. A brief intro to the physical landforms/features of the area (1-2 paragraphs)–
4. A brief description of what processes formed the geology, soils, landforms and
features [water? erosion? uplift? etc.]. This can be included into the above paragraphs
5. At least one map of your area. (Figure)
6. At least 3 terms from the textbook (must be in bold or italicized so I know)
7. At least 3 cited sources (where did you find this info? And NO wiki-anything)
Also, make sure you have a TITLE and the NAMES of the members of your group.
------The total points is 30--------
16 points for content [#1-4],
3 points for the map,
3 points for the terms,
3 points for the cited sources, and
3 points for spelling/syntax etc.
2 points for uploading it correctly on wikispace.
